DMX began rapping as early as the mid 1990s. In May 1998, he recorded his debut album, It's DARK and HOT. DMX released other albums such as... and There Was X as well as the Great Depression Year of the Dog... Redemption of the Beast, Grand Champ. In 2001, his album entitled... as well as Then There was X was awarded a Grammy nomination for the category of Best Rap Album. Apart from his rap projects, he also appeared in films such as Lords of the Street Belly Top Five Exit Wounds That Will Never Be Alone, The Bleeding Romeo Has to Die Backstage Beyond the Law Lockjaw Rise of the Kulev Serpent and Fast and Fierce Death Race.
